A new mobile calendar for tracking tasks and deadlines

Context

ecoPortal's mobile app had no calendar at all. People managing tasks, actions and deadlines had no single place to see what was coming, so they walked separate lists in different corners of the app and held the schedule together in their heads.

The problem

There was no existing pattern to iterate on, so everything was a first decision: which content types to surface, how to represent time, how to handle a dense day, and where the calendar should live in the navigation. The harder constraint was tone. A calendar people open daily had to feel personal and approachable without adding weight to a product already full of incidents, audits and compliance.

My role

I explored the shape of it before committing: different calendar treatments, content hierarchies and visual approaches, working through the nuances of how a calendar can be read. Tasks, actions and reminders each come from a different part of the product, so I defined one card system that could carry all three without flattening what makes them different. I designed the home screen widget for the days nobody opens the calendar, and I argued for the illustrated seasonal covers as a product decision rather than decoration.

Business impact

Safety professionals see tasks, actions and reminders in one place instead of rebuilding their week from separate lists. Corrective action close-out time is a core EHS metric, and overdue actions are the most common way a compliance obligation quietly slips. Planning also stopped leaving the product: deadlines that used to live in third-party calendars are now somewhere ecoPortal can see and keep current, with nobody maintaining a second copy.
